How it works
A weekend, then practice, then the exam
The weekend covers the whole v4.0 syllabus. You then sit the official exam once your mock-exam results allow it.

2 × 7 h online, in French, with your trainer: the whole v4.0 syllabus and the method for answering trick questions.

One to two weeks of practice
Between 5 and 10 sessions on our Teachizy platform: course, exercises and mock exams with corrections and comments.

As soon as you reach 75% on the mock exams, while the official pass mark is 65%.

The v4.0 syllabus
What do the six chapters of the ISTQB CTFL v4.0 syllabus cover?
The syllabus has six chapters for a single 40-question exam. Chapters 4 and 5 account for 20 of the 40 questions and hold all eight application (K3) questions: this is where we spend the most time on exercises.
2. Testing throughout the software development lifecycle
Development models, shift-left, DevOps, test levels and test types, maintenance testing. 6 of the 40 questions.
3. Static testing and reviews
Early feedback, static analysis, the review process, roles and success factors. 4 of the 40 questions.
4. Test analysis and design techniques
The core of the exam: black-box (equivalence partitioning, boundary values, decision tables, state transitions), white-box, and experience-based techniques. 11 of the 40 questions.
5. Managing the test activities
Planning, estimation, prioritization, risks, metrics, configuration management and defect management. 9 of the 40 questions.
6. Test tools
Tool categories, benefits and risks of tooling and automation. 2 of the 40 questions.

How much does the ISTQB CTFL preparation cost?
€600 VAT incl. if you fund it yourself, €1,500 VAT incl. if your employer funds it. The price covers the 2 × 7 h preparation, the official ISTQB exam with a second attempt, the mock-exam platform and the 2026 test documents.
Do I need testing experience to sit the ISTQB Foundation exam?
No. CTFL has no experience prerequisite. It is precisely the certification designed to lay the foundations: it suits career changers, developers who want to formalise their quality knowledge, and newcomers to QA.
How does the exam work?
A 40-question multiple-choice paper in 60 minutes. You need 26 correct answers out of 40 (65 %) to be certified. If you are not sitting the exam in your native language, you get 25 % extra time.
Is the exam fee really included?
Yes, with no additional cost. And if you do not pass first time, a second attempt is offered. That is the point of the promise: you pay once.
How do I know I am ready?
You sit the exam when your mock-exam results allow it: from 75 %, while the official pass mark is 65 %. You are not guessing.
I have a job — how do I train without taking leave?
The preparation fits in an online weekend of 2 × 7 hours (Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 November 2026, taught in French), followed by 5 to 10 practice sessions at your own pace. The 3-day corporate format remains available for sessions organised by your employer.
Which certification should I target next?
CTFL is the prerequisite for the advanced levels. Management-oriented profiles move on to CTAL Test Management, AI-oriented profiles to CT-GenAI. Many also continue into automation with Playwright or API testing.
