What will you be able to do after the DevOps QA tester course?

From commit to production, then to the report: skills you will be able to explain, apply and defend in front of a panel. For background on the role, read our article on DevOps QA training.

Put quality into the loop

Map the value stream and define a DevOps quality strategy: which test, at which stage, with which quality gate.

Build the pipeline

Build a CI/CD pipeline with GitHub Actions, GitLab CI or Jenkins, run the tests in it and drive a progressive deployment with rollback.

Containerize and observe

Containerize an application and its tests with Docker, then set up logs, metrics and alerts (Prometheus, Grafana).

Report and get certified

Measure DORA metrics, write a DevOps quality report for stakeholders, and sit the ISTQB CT-QDO exam.

A specialization for testers who are already certified.

It is designed for test automation engineers, quality engineers and QA leads who want to master quality and testing across a DevOps value stream. One to two years of test automation experience and comfort with Git and the command line are recommended.

Mandatory prerequisite

A valid ISTQB Foundation certification (CTFL): it is an official prerequisite for the CT-QDO exam. Language: classes are taught in French (Paris time), so you need fluent French and the ability to read technical English. Equipment: a personal computer (Linux, macOS or Windows 10+, 8 GB of RAM, virtualization enabled), an up-to-date browser and a stable internet connection.

Two formats, one program.

Evening classes are for individuals, full-time is for companies. Both follow the same progression, the same Capstone and the same CT-QDO exam preparation; full-time extends it to 399 h.

What does the DevOps QA tester course cover?

Three modules detailed session by session (S01–S60), three competency gates, a Capstone project and an ISTQB prep weekend. This is the detailed program of the evening-class format; full-time takes it up and extends it to 399 h in 6 blocks.

140 hours in total as evening classes (399 h full-time).

Recommended personal practice: 4 to 6 h per week (48 to 72 h), on top of the 140 h of evening classes. The ISTQB exam is taken outside these hours.

You receive a practice application (microservices architecture) and deliver a complete DevOps chain: value stream map, multi-stage CI/CD pipeline, automated and manual tests positioned in the loop, containerization, quality gates, progressive deployment, observability and a DORA metrics report. The defense, in front of a three-member panel that includes an external DevOps professional, focuses on justifying your choices: why this pipeline breakdown, which test at which stage, which quality gate and why.

  • Assessment rule: a simple chain that you understand and can defend beats a stack of tools you do not master.

Career coaching by a business engineer

On top of the classes, an ADC business engineer coaches you one-to-one to prepare your job search, across six areas.

Writing your resume

We build a clear resume with you, centred on your projects and your skills.

According to a 2018 Ladders eye-tracking study, recruiters spent an average of 7.4 seconds on an initial resume screen, so the key points need to be easy to spot.

LinkedIn profile

Photo, headline, summary and skills: we write and fine-tune your profile together.

According to LinkedIn, members with a profile photo receive up to 2x more profile views.

Professional portfolio

Your course projects, presented as evidence of your skills that you can show to a recruiter.

Finding suitable opportunities

We help you target the job postings, unsolicited applications and contacts that fit your profile.

According to Apec (2026), 75% of French private-sector companies that hired executives in 2025 used unsolicited applications as a sourcing channel.

Psychology and self-confidence

Mental preparation work: handling stress, rejection and speaking up.

A meta-analysis of 47 studies (Liu et al., 2014) found that job seekers in programs combining skills and motivation had 2.67 times the odds of finding employment compared with control groups. It does not guarantee any individual outcome.

Theory and practice interviews

Theory questions, practical exercises and role-play, with feedback on every mock interview.

A 2022 meta-analysis (Sackett et al.) ranks structured interviews among the most predictive selection methods of job performance (validity of .42, versus an estimated .19 for unstructured interviews), so practicing structured questions is worthwhile. It describes selection quality, not any candidate’s odds.

Context: the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects employment of software QA analysts and testers to grow 6% from 2025 to 2035. This is a U.S. national projection, not a guarantee of being hired.

The outcome depends on your background, your applications and the market: ADC does not guarantee a job, a salary or a placement.

Frequently asked questions about the DevOps QA tester course

An advisor can also help you take stock of your plans.

Let’s talk about your plans
What is the prerequisite for the course?

A valid ISTQB Foundation certification (CTFL) is mandatory. CTFL is an official prerequisite for the CT-QDO exam; without it, you cannot sit the exam. One to two years of test automation experience are recommended, along with comfort with Git and the command line. Classes are taught in French. The prerequisite is checked during a placement interview, before you start.

How much time should I plan for each week?

In the evening-class format, about 10 h of classes per week (60 two-hour sessions over 12 weeks), plus 4 to 6 h of personal practice each week (workshops, review, Capstone), on top of the 140 h of the evening-class format.

Do I need to know how to administer servers?

No. The path starts from the tester’s point of view: Git and CI/CD foundations are reviewed in week 3, Docker and Kubernetes are presented as concepts for testers, and all hands-on work is done on practice applications provided by ADC. Comfort with Git and the command line is recommended.

Which tools do we use?

GitHub Actions, GitLab CI and Jenkins (free or community editions), Docker and Docker Compose, and open-source Prometheus and Grafana. A demonstration of paid offerings (Datadog, cloud execution) shows what the market provides. You need a personal computer (Linux, macOS or Windows 10+, 8 GB of RAM, virtualization enabled), an up-to-date browser and a stable internet connection.

What is the difference between the ADC CP-QDO certificate and the ISTQB CT-QDO certification?

The ADC Professional Certificate is a private certificate from a training organization: not a degree, not a qualification registered with France’s RNCP, and not the ISTQB CT-QDO certification. It is awarded by AutomationDataCamp after the three competency gates and the defense. The ISTQB CT-QDO certification is issued by ISTQB after you pass its official exam, which the course prepares you for and whose fees are included, with a second attempt if you fail.

What is the ISTQB CT-QDO exam like?

40 multiple-choice questions in 60 minutes (75 minutes if you do not take the exam in your native language), with a 65% pass mark. It is taken online with remote proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test center, and the certification is valid for life. To sit it, you need a score of at least 85% on the final mock exam of the prep weekend.

What happens if I do not pass a gate or the defense?

If you fail a competency gate, remediation is prescribed before the next module, and the gate can be retaken once. A candidate who fails the defense can retake it once within 30 days. A candidate who has not passed every gate is not admitted to the defense.

What is the difference between the two formats and the two prices?

Two formats, one progression. The evening-class format (140 h over 12 weeks) is offered to individuals at €1,500 incl. VAT, launch price. The full-time format (399 h over 12 weeks, during the day) is offered to companies at €7,500 incl. VAT. It follows the same progression, extended into 6 blocks (371 h of training, 14 h of support, 14 h of ISTQB preparation), with the same Capstone and the same certificates. The ISTQB CT-QDO exam is included in both, with a second attempt if you fail, and the CTFL prerequisite is the same.
