Manual and regression testing services, inside your sprints

Manual and regression testing services give you testers who check new features by hand and re-test what already worked before each release. At AutomationDataCamp, they join your sprints for €300 excl. VAT per day, 100% remotely, in English or French, and report in your tools.

What are manual testing services?

Manual testing services are testing carried out by a person rather than a script: a tester reads the user story, prepares test cases, runs them on the product and reports what does not behave as expected. It includes exploratory testing, where the tester investigates a feature without a fixed script to find the problems nobody thought to specify. Manual testing remains the right tool for new features that still change every sprint, for usability and visual checks, and for one-off scenarios that would cost more to automate than to run.

What is regression testing?

Regression testing checks that a change has not broken something that used to work. Before each release, a regression campaign replays the important scenarios of the product: sign-in, payment, the main business workflows, the integrations. The campaign can be manual, automated or, most often, a mix of both. The difficulty is that it grows with every release, which is why many teams end up with a regression phase that takes days and delays shipping.

A useful regression campaign is ranked by risk rather than run in full every time. The scenarios that protect revenue, data and compliance come first; low-risk areas touched by the change come next; the rest is sampled. Each run leaves a short report: what was tested, what failed, what was skipped and why, so the release decision is based on facts rather than on how much time was left.

What is included?

  • Manual and exploratory testing of new features during the sprint, against your acceptance criteria.
  • Test case design and upkeep in your test management tool, or in a format you choose.
  • Regression campaigns before each release, prioritised by risk so the most important journeys are covered first.
  • Defect reports with steps to reproduce, evidence and severity, in your bug tracker.
  • Maintenance of existing automated suites, if you already have some, including flaky tests (read 8 causes of flaky Playwright tests and how to fix them).

The same embedded service also covers automated, performance, accessibility and security testing when your sprint needs them.

Should regression testing be manual or automated?

Usually both. Scenarios that are stable, repeated at every release and critical to the business are good candidates for automation: once scripted, they run on every change in your pipeline instead of once before release. Scenarios that change often, need human judgement or run rarely can stay manual. A practical approach is to start with a manual regression campaign, note which scenarios are replayed every time, and automate those first.

In one engagement, automation cut a regression campaign from 10 days to 2 hours. Results depend on context: the size of the product, the stability of the test environment and the quality of the test data all matter. When automation is the next step, it is delivered through QA industrialisation and integrated into your pipeline (see how to automate tests in CI/CD).

How does it work?

  1. Scoping call (30 minutes): your product, your release rhythm, your tools.
  2. Optional QA audit: a risk and coverage map, a target test strategy and a costed plan, so the testers start on what matters most.
  3. Onboarding: access to your tools, working hours and communication channels agreed with you.
  4. Testing inside your sprints, with the number of days per week adjusted as your release calendar changes.

How much do manual and regression testing services cost?

Embedded testing is billed at €300 excl. VAT per day. You choose how many days per week, and you can increase them before a big release and reduce them afterwards. If you want a clear picture before you start, the QA audit costs €1,000 excl. VAT and is delivered in 5 working days. Automating the regression suite is a separate fixed-price project, QA industrialisation, from €4,500 excl. VAT, scoped after the audit. More detail on the embedded model is on our QA outsourcing page.

Who does the work?

The AutomationDataCamp team, led by Oussama Belakhdar, QA architect and founder. Engagements are 100% remote, in English or French, for companies in the US, the UK, Canada, Australia, Europe, the Gulf states and the Nordics. We have tested software in healthcare, finance, e-invoicing, blockchain, logistics, e-commerce and document management.

Frequently asked questions

How much do manual testing services cost?

Embedded manual, exploratory and regression testing is billed at €300 excl. VAT per day. You choose the number of days per week and can change it from one release to the next.

Can you run our regression campaign before a release?

Yes. We run the campaign inside your sprint, prioritised by risk, and report defects in your bug tracker with steps to reproduce and evidence.

Can you automate our regression tests later?

Yes. Stable, repeated and critical scenarios can be automated through QA industrialisation, from €4,500 excl. VAT fixed price, with scope and final price set after a €1,000 QA audit.

Do your testers work in our time zone?

Engagements are 100% remote for teams in the US, the UK, Canada, Australia, Europe, the Gulf states and the Nordics. Working hours and communication channels are agreed with you before the start.

Who owns the test cases?

You do. Test cases, reports and any test code are delivered in your tools and your repository.
